Households purchase 3-4 month old goat kids during the month of Baisakh (after the harvest of mustard) from the Balaheri market in the Dausa district of Rajasthan which is at a distance of 104 km from Rasgan. Goat kids are also purchased from the weekly goat and sheep market at Firozpur Jhirka in Haryana which is about 20 km away from Rasgan. The preference is for Totapari and Nagphani breeds, but other breeds are also reared. |
