  • In-depth studies on two Good Practices i) “development of commons’ leads to pro-poor livestock development” and ii) Poultry Based Livelihoods of rural poor: Case of Kuroiler in West Bengal have been initiated.
  • Documenting Good practices: A range of (potential) Good practices related to themes, ‘small scale poultry development’, ‘common property resources and livestock’ and ‘small ruminants’ are currently documented. The first set of Good practice notes and related products can be accessed from the Good Practices section of the website.
  • There is a concrete understanding on the establishment of South Asia Platform for Pro-Poor Livestock Development and when sufficient lessons based on GP documentation are in place, the same will be activated.
  • SA PPLPP has adopted the concept of Communities of Practice to share expertise and know how on pro-poor livestock development. While a number of CoPs were set up, some turned dormant. The most active one is the CoP ‘Livestock Policy Development’ with a functional objective of equiping members to be actively involved in the processes of livestock policy development. 
  • Up scaling lessons learnt of ‘Livestock Service Reform Process’ (involving SA PPLPI / the SDC-funded project CALPI / Animal Husbandry Department of Andhra Pradesh) is on the agenda.
