Indigenous Poultry Genetic Resources of Orissa

A study was undertaken by Intercooperation India and Indo-Swiss Natural Resources Management Programme, Orissa in the year 2004-05 to identify major indigenous poultry genetic resources / local breeds of poultry available in the state, and characterize them by their genetic attributes. The study was carried out in districts with high tribal population and those with a high concentration of local poultry breeds, viz., Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Phulbani, and Boudh.
