The video presentation provides an overview of the contribution of family poultry production towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals of poverty alleviation, food security and income generation. The presentation commences by examining two methods of defining poverty in terms of money and human deprivation and ends by highlighting a number of measures, including policy options which are required to unlock the development potential of family poultry.

The content of the video was prepared by Frands Dolberg for Associate Poultry Advisers as part of a training programme organized by FAO in cooperation with IFAD.
