This Good Practice note documents how community institutions in village Jhabla, District Udaipur, Rajasthan, have facilitated the protection and regeneration of degraded pasture lands. These interventions initiated by Seva Mandir in the late 1980s, commenced with community dialogue processes and the establishment of robust community institutions that effectively contributed to the regeneration of degraded pasture lands, and led to an assured supply of fodder grass that in turn strengthened livestock rearing particularly for landless households.

The document highlights the need to ensure and enable community participation in interventions related to the management and governance of natural resources especially forests and open pasture lands.
