The main objectives of this workshop were to share the preliminary findings of the study ‘Poultry based livelihoods of the rural poor - Case Study of Kuroilers in West Bengal’ with key stakeholders; to provide a platform to enhance awareness of the importance of market oriented household poultry as a livelihood option for the poor, to obtain feedback on the study findings with the objective of providing guidance for further analysis and to identify concrete issues for creating an enabling environment for promotion of backyard poultry production.
