SA PPLPP Field Initiatives Gain a Fillip After Visit from Joint Secretary and FAO Representative, India

National workshop on livestock keepers’ rights and SEVA Breed Saviour Awards ceremony held at NBAGR, Karnal

Pashu Sakhi Meeting Convened in Pratapgarh Tehsil of Thanagazhi Block, Alwar
25 April 2014, Alwar, India - Twenty one Pashu Sakhis provide primary health care services to small and large ruminants in nearly 32 villages in the Pratapgarh Tehsil of Alwar district in Rajasthan. These services range from vaccination and de-worming to providing first aid and medication for diseases such as diarrhoea, common cold, fever, and bloated stomach.

Odisha, India - The Kandhamal Mahila Mandal (KMM), a federation of 587 Self Help Groups in the Balliguda subdivision of Kandhamal district convened its 6th Maha-adhiveshan(1) in Balliguda on 22nd April 2013. Over 6,000 women SHG members from the Balliguda, Nuagaon, Tumudibandh and Daringwadi blocks of the Balliguda subdivision participated in the event.

Rajasthan, India - Common pool resources or Commons play a critical role in maintaining the ecological balance, providing essential resources to sustain life and livelihoods, particularly of the poor, ensuring food security and meeting rural energy and fodder requirements. Over the years, there has been a steady decline both in the extent and in the quality of common lands, largely on account of changes in land use, a collapse of governance mechanisms, an absence of clear tenure and the allocation of these lands for other purposes.
Door step delivery of livestock health care services - the eVet project of the Madhya Pradesh Animal Husbandry Department
Madhya Pradesh, India - The Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Madhya Pradesh, recently launched an eVet project, initially focused in selected villages in 15 blocks in the districts of Sehore and Betul. Approved by the agriculture cabinet, the initial pilot in the two selected districts is jointly funded by the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), a central government scheme to increase investment in agriculture, and the state plan budget.
